Design description

Every Christian ought to bear Fruit. Just a little reminder of some of the fruits of the spirit, that should be evident in all of our lives. Everyday we must choose between walking in the spirit and walking in the flesh, and we know that the fruits of the flesh are carnal, empty and bitter. Let us then chose the better way. Let us choose The way of Love. Inspired by Galations 5:22-23.

Being from Wisconsin I obviously know from trees that are alive but are barren! Brrrrr ;-) The way you explain it makes perfect sense, but for the intended purpose I think it may be much less effective than you'd like for two reasons. (1) When someone sees it and makes the easy (obvious) visual jump to "a dead tree with stuff hanging on it", it could make you spend more time having to explain to them the meaning of the shirt design than getting to talk about the meaning (scripture) behind it. (2) Drawing that initial mis-conclusion about what the design signifies could see less of those people coming to you to comment on it or ask about it. That would be a shame as the message is so valuable. ...Artistic opinions aside, glad to know that the impression the visual gave wasn't because of a skewed view of scripture - It's cool if we disagree on how best to say the same thing. ;-)

Serloren; thank you for the theological insights on my design . I agree that a bad tree cannot bear good fruit, but what makes you think that this is a bad tree. Its just a tree that does not happen to have leaves on it at the present time. This is a process which happens to many "Good", "Living" trees every year. A bad tree is determined upon the condition of its roots and where they are founded, and as you can see this tree is rooted in Gods Word.(Galatians 5:22) By the way I tried this design with leaves on the tree and it really took away from the fruit. I opted out, but maybe in the future I will try something else. Thanks for your critique.

It's a cool looking design - nice color choices. BUT, theologically it is the exact inverse of what scripture teaches:....In Luke 6:43, Jesus said, "For there is no good (healthy) tree that bears decayed (worthless, stale) fruit, nor on the other hand does a decayed (worthless, sickly) tree bear good fruit."....This scripture and parable is repeated in all of the gospels, and the sentiment - the expressed meaning - is reiterated in a number of other places by both Peter and Paul. Sorry. How about switching out all the good fruits you used with bad ones, and then including the entire verse from one of the Gospels to make obvious the difference between bad fruit/trees, and good fruit/trees? Or maybe a two sided-shirt that has a healthy tree with good fruit, and a dead tree with bad fruit?

Very nice, but I think it is sort of hard to see everything you are trying to portray.

I always love your designs! This is soo pretty and cool! It's a really creative way of portraying the fruit of the spirit lol x] I'm pretty sure Galatians is spelled with an "a" instead of an "o" but it's still a 5 from me! =DD!
